Agnes Ruth McWaters Hicks

Agnes Ruth Hicks, 88, died Tuesday December 9, 2025 at the home of her son Dwayne Powers. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Friday, December 12, 2025 at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Taylor officiating.

Mrs. Hicks was born on October 4, 1937 in Great Falls, SC and was a daughter of the late John Bunyan and Mary Lou McElveen McWaters. She attended Great Falls High School and was retired from JP Stevens as a Weaver. Agnes was a former member of the Eastern Star Chapter 211. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with her family. She also loved tending her flowers at her home in Great Falls, in the home and outside the home.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 53 years, Oscar Junior Hicks and her son Sam Powers.

She is survived by two sons, Dwayne Powers (Debra) of Chester, SC and Tony McWaters (Denise) of Fayetteville, GA; step-son Danny Hicks (Kathy) of Davenport, FL; two step-daughters, Delores Pittman (Ricky) of Lancaster, SC and Kim Surrett (Wayne) of Elgin, SC; two sisters, Margaret Brown of Loris, SC and Rachel Crawford of Elgin, SC and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
