Ann W. Garris GREAT FALLS:Mrs. Ann Williamson Garris, 83, formerly of Riverview Acres died Monday October 6, 2008 at Morningside Assisted Living in Lancaster, SC. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the graveside at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls.Rev. Scott Smoak will officiate. Mrs. Garris was born December 19, 1925 in Jackson, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Walter and Izzie Williamson.She was a graduate of Centerville High School in Mississippi and Touro Infirmary in New Orleans.She was a registered nurse in Mississippi, and after moving to Great Falls she served as Executive Assistant to the General Manager of J.P. Stevens three textile plants in Great Falls.She moved to Greenville in 1968 and was assistant manager for all J.P. Stevens stores.After retirement from Stevens, she attended Greenville Technical College and received her paralegal degree.She then earned a certified professional secretary's degree in 1970.She was a licensed real estate agent in Greenville with the Paul Goldsmith Agency and served on the Mauldin City Council.She was selected as the first outstanding young woman of Great Falls.Mrs. Garris served as a faithful member of the Great Falls Order of the Eastern Star chapter 211.As a member of Mt. Dearborn UMC, she served as Sunday School treasurer, taught youth Sunday School for many years, and also was a member of the choir. Surviving are her son, Ralph Garris and wife Rhonda of Great Falls; one grandson, Blake Garris of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Margaret Doster of Jackson, Miss. and Jean Ann Williams of Brookhaven, Miss.She was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Henry.
