Mrs. Antionette (Toni) Simpson Snead, 89, of Great Falls, died Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Born on September 13, 1935 in Chester County, SC, she was the youngest daughter of the late Charles Betts Simpson and Antoinette “Lady” Hollis Simpson. She was a 1957 graduate of the Columbia Hospital School of Nursing. Antoinette used her nursing skills in support of the Great Falls Clinic PA where her husband, the late Dr. Hollis P. Snead, Jr practiced for over fifty years. After his death, she continued to enjoy spending time with family especially at Lake Wateree and on family trips. She loved sewing, gardening and spending time making memories with the grandchildren.
Toni is survived by her daughter, Nori (Will) Snead Warren of Columbia SC; her son, Hollis (Kim) Snead III of Chapin SC and brother, Ret. Lt. Col. John A. Simpson of Due West; Sister-in-laws Becky Snead Waldrep of Beaufort SC, Jo Ann Simpson of Central, SC, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: Charles Betts Simpson, Jr. and David George Simpson, Sr.; sister: Annie Joe Simpson Jirel, sisters-in-law: Rose Burns Simpson, Nancy Simpson and Jane T. Snead , brothers-in-law: Joseph P. Snead and Robert Lee Jirel.
The family will receive friends Sunday, February 2nd, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Great Falls Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 500 Dearborn St, Great Falls, SC with service at 2:30pm. The Reverend James “Carrot” Williams will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 3:30pm at Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls, SC.
