Great Falls Mr. Bobby Joe Broom, 80, died Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Springs Memorial Hospital.The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Batchelor officiating.Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Mr. Broom was born March 31, 1932 in Great Falls and was a son of the late Robert T. Broom and Myrtle Byars Broom.He attended Great Falls High School and completed his education after military service.He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.Mr. Broom was formerly employed by J.P. Stevens Company and retired from Chester County Hospital in the maintenance department.He was an avid wood worker anda member of First Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon. Mr. Broom is survived by his wife, Sandra Oglesby Broom; three daughters, Donna Rollins and husband Neil of Great Falls, Kim Sapp and husband Ray of Lancaster, and Kelly Manning and husband Michael of Elgin; nine grandchildren, Alex Walters, Joel and Chase Rollins, Rebekah, Joshua, and Jakob Sapp, and Karsyn, William, and Emily Manning; and a special niece, Sheri Jones and her son Brandon of Great Falls.
