Burma Ann Broom Gladden

Great Falls Mrs. Burma Ann Broom Gladden, 76, died Monday, June 12, 2023 at MUSC Health Lancaster. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Jordan and Rev. Ray Robinson officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Saturday at the church. Born March 19, 1947 in Camden, SC, she was the daughter of the late Frank Broom and Hazel Wilson Broom. She was a graduate of Great Falls High School and the University of SC Nursing School. She retired as a registered nurse with the Chester County School District. She was a former Red Hat Lady and had a love of traveling. Burma loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fort Lawn, SC. She is survived by one son, Hartsell Hugh Gladden, Jr. (Julie) of York, SC; six grandchildren, Wes Gladden (Rebecca), Morgan Byrd (Dustin), Garrett Gladden, Magen Bush, Shane Gladden and Ryan Gladden; two great grandchildren, Dawson and Madelyn Byrd; three sisters, Darlene Helms (David) of Georgetown, SC, Rhonda Toole of Lancaster, SC and Janice Kirkland of Richburg, SC; one brother, Robbie Broom of Great Falls; a niece, Tenille Barnhill whom she loved as her own daughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Burma was preceded in death by her husband of over 53 years, Hartsell Gladden; a son, Barry Shannon Gladden; and a sister, Denise Graham.
