Great Falls Carla Banci Locklair, 97,died Saturday, January 29, 2022, at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.By her direction, there will be a service of committal at Greenlawn Cemetery by Fr. Javier Heredia at Greenlawn Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 4, 2022. Born February 10, 1924in Firenze, Italy, Carla remained all her life Italian in all things.She met her husband, Ed Locklair, when his unit of the American Army was in Italy near the end of WWII.They fell in love and were married.As soon as arrangements could be made following the war, Carla came to the United States to make a home for herself and Ed in Great Falls, SC. Carla was a character who defied defining and categorizing.Every person who ever met her was touched by her and has one story or more about the adventure it was to know this amazing woman. Carla was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her son, Michael Lee; and her granddaughter, Whitney Wolter.In addition to her parents, Mario and Luiga Banci, she was also preceded by her brother, Giuliana; her elder sister, Maria; and her twin sister, Fiorenza.She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jill Locklair; great grandchildren, Brennan and Kayla Lipscombe; great-great grandson, Matthew; and a host of cousins, friends and acquaintances who are a testament to a full life lived large.
