Carol Udean Childers Roof

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Childers Roof, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, who passed away peacefully at her home on May 6, 2026 at the age of 76.

Born in Winnsboro, SC to the late Otis Childers and Leola Boone Childers, Carol dedicated her life to the people she loved most - her family. She was the heart of her home, always offering steady support, kindness, and wisdom to those around her. As a wife, she shared a lasting partnership built on love, faithfulness, and mutual respect. As a mother and grandmother, she created countless memories filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.

She believed deeply in the value of hard work, honesty, and doing right by others. Those who knew her admired her strength, dependability, and straightforward nature. She lived simply and sincerely, teaching by example the importance of integrity and perseverance.

One of her greatest joys was spending time in her yard, where she found peace and satisfaction caring for flowers, plants, and the beauty around her home. Whether tending a garden, mowing the yard, or simply enjoying the sunshine, she took pride in creating a welcoming place for family and friends to gather.

Carol was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she found great joy and strength in her church family. She especially treasured the friendships and fellowship shared with her Sunday School class and had a special appreciation for her pastor, Luke Dickson, whose prayers, encouragement, and compassion brought her much comfort.

Above all else, Carol treasured time spent with her loved ones. Family gatherings, shared meals, weekend adventures, and everyday moments brought her the greatest happiness. Her love and guidance will remain a lasting gift to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, George "Jerry" Roof; her children, Trudy Wilson, Amy Hewitt (Darren), Jamie Jones (Kristen) and Tim Jones (Jeff); her grandchildren, Kristan Swygart (Jamie), Megan Ruark (Darren), Holly Ward, Katy Ward and Brittany Jones (Corey); her great-grandchildren, Ally McKeown, Laken Swygart, Brantlee Swygart and Gunner Pittman; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by son, Eddie Roof and grandson, Jamie Wilson.

A memorial to honor her life will be held in private.

Though her presence will be missed, her love, strength, and example will live on in the family she cherished so dearly.
