Great Falls Carolyn Emma Holliday Gay, 89, died Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at her home.A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, May 13, 2022, at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Chase Catledge officiating.The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC 29055. Mrs. Gay was born September 18, 1932 in Clarendon County, SC and was a daughter of the late Dave P. Holliday and Edna Mae Jones Smith.She attended the schools of Gaston and Pelion, SC and was formerly employed with Camp La Vida in housekeeping and as a food server.Mrs. Gay was a member of Second Baptist Church of Great Falls. She is survived by two sons, James A. Jones, Sr. of Great Falls and Paul Harris, Jr. of Washington State; five daughters, Carolyn Hood of Ridgeway, Janice Edwards of Conway, Marion Plyler of Heath Springs, Sheila Cook of Great Falls and Helen Taylor of Great Falls; two brothers, Simon Smith of Rock Hill and Samuel T. Smith of Georgetown; twelve grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Ernestine Irvin of Georgetown.Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Gay, Jr. and a sister, Faye Jeffcoat.
