GREAT FALLS: Mr. Charles Woodrow “Paw Paw” Campbell, Sr. went home to be the Lord onNovember 22, 2014 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, SC.The funeral service will be11:00 AM Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral with Reverend Chase Catledge officiating.The interment will be 2:00 PMTuesday, November 25, 2014 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte, NC.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, November 24, 2014at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home. Born December 23, 1930 in Gastonia, NC, Mr. Campbell was the son of the late Loyd and Mae Elizabeth Rhyne Campbell.He attended the schools of Gastonia, NC and was retired from Pilot Freight Carriers. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a member of Teamsters Local #71 in Charlotte, NC.He was the widower of Mrs. Betty Jo Cline Campbell. “Paw Paw” was a devoted Christian, grandfather, father and friend and a man that loved the simple things in life.He loved working with his hands, and would spending endless hours working in his “shop” (empty bedroom).He was firm yet loving even when he gave you the “cat eye”.Believing in the power of prayer,if he were called on to pray, count on being there a while. Everyone knew the way to his heart was through his stomach.A hotdog didn’t have a chance around him.If he got missing after a meal, you could always find him crashed out in his grandson’s bed.He said he was “determined” but his family called it being stubborn. He is survived by one son, Charles W. “Chuck” Campbell, Jr. (Miki)of Charlotte, NC; one daughter, Leslie C. Richardson of Fort Mill, SC and one grandson, Charles Ray “Charlie” Richardson of Fort Mill, SC; lifelong friends, Boband Emily Baldwin of Columbia, SC and Ms. Alice Prevatte of Fountain Inn, SC.Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by a brother James Campbell and son-in-law Billy DeanRichardson.
