Winnsboro, SC Mr. Denley Charles "Charlie" Caughman, Sr., died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at his home.The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, January 28, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Great Falls with Rev. Greg Batchelor officiating. Interment will follow at the Caughman Family Cemetery in Winnsboro.The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:30 PM in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church. He was born in Richland Co., SC on December 3, 1927 and was a son of the late H. F. Caughman and Mae Sloan Caughman.He was a graduate of Lower Richland High School and a member of First Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Director and Deacon.Mr. Caughman was owner and operator of Caughman Farms.He was named Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year in 1957.He was a member of the Fairfield Co. Farm Bureau and served as President for many years and was elected as a Vice President to the SC Farm Bureau Central District.He was awarded the SC Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award for the year 2000.He formerly served as Commissioner of Fairfield Co. Soil and Conservation Service.He was a former member of the Fairfield Co. School Board and a founding member and former Board member of Richard Winn Academy.He was Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts Troop #175 of Mitford and a former President of the Great Falls Lions Club where he was recently awarded lifetime membership. He was a member of the Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277 having recently received his 50 year pin and a former Board member of Connie Maxwell Children's Home Mr. Caughman is survived by his wife, Virginia Morris Caughman; two sons, Denley Charles Caughman, Jr. and his wife Ann of Marion, SC and W.D. Caughman and his wife Robin of Winnsboro; one daughter, Carol Caughman Turner of Winnsboro; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Caroline Caughman Hogan of Columbia, SC.He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry F.
