Great Falls Mr. David Lex Minors, 65, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Springs Memorial Hospital.The funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Mitford Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Cameron officiating.The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC.Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls. Mr. Minors was born July 25, 1945 and was a son of the late Lex and Lucille Couick Minors.He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and Carson Newman College and was a member of Mitford Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.He was a school teacher and taught in Great Falls Middle School and Head Start and was a SC baseball, softball and football official.He served on the Board of Directors for GRASP, was Vice President of Fairfield Outboard Boating Club, former chairman of The Empty Stocking Fund and present chairman of the Great Falls Christmas Parade where he has served for many years.He was retired Recreation Director for Town of Great Falls and Chester County and was presently employed as assistant circulation manager for the Chester News & Reporter.He also continued his work with the YMCA.He was an avid SC Gamecock fan. He is survived by his wife, Lorene B. Minors; two sons, Michael Minors of Fort Mill and Jeffrey Minors of Rock Hill; two daughters, Janet Hinson and husband, Daniel of Great Fallsand Becky Rice and husband, Steven of Rock Hill; four grandsons, Jamie, Jordan, and Jarrett Hinson of Great Falls and Gage Spinks of Rock Hill; one sister, Debbie Greenleaf and husband, Dana of Great Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
