Rock Hill Rev. Dr. David Burton Riddle, 77, died peacefully at his home on July 30, 2017. David, a native of Texas, was the son of Rev. James Burton Riddle and Mrs. Frances Holmes Riddle Redman. David graduated from the University of Texas.He earned a Master of Divinity degree at Princeton Theological Seminary and a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of South Carolina. During a thirty-four year ministry, David was the beloved stated supply pastor of several Presbyterian churches, including Hebron, Blackstock, Catholic, and Uriel.After retirement, he was active in Allison Creek Presbyterian Church. In 1976, David worked with Bethel Presbytery and its executive secretary, Dr. Thomas W. Horton, Jr., to establish the Saluda Psychological Services Center.David was the founding director of the center, which is now called the Saluda Counseling Center. David is survived by his wife, Emma Jane Riddle; his first cousin, Ruth Holmes of Lubbock, Texas; and many friends. David’s funeral service will be held at Hebron Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 2,2017 at 11:00 AM, with burial in the church cemetery.Rev. Jim Williams and Rev. Sam McGregor will officiate.Visitation will be in the church fellowship hall after the service, and other times at the home.
