David Lee Taylor, Sr.

Mr. David Lee Taylor Sr., 81, died Wednesday, May 7,2025, at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Mitford Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM,  Friday, May 9, 2025, at Dantzler Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Katherine Price, 56 Wildwood Rd., Great Falls, SC.

Mr. Taylor was born January 30,1944 in Detroit, MI and was the son of the late James Edward Taylor and Maggie Bell Morrison Taylor. He attended the schools of Great Falls, SC and retired from Springs Industries after over 43 years of service in the textile industry including his time at JP Stevens as a doffer. David loved spending time with his family, fishing, working in his garden and taking care of his chickens which he started when he was just five years old.  He was a member of Great Falls Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by three children, Carolyn Catledge (Chris) of Lancaster, SC, Katherine Price (Tim) of Great Falls, SC and one son, David Lee Taylor, Jr. of Blackstock, SC; six grandchildren, Michael Swilling (Amy), Tracy Swilling (Elaina), Andrew Price (Brooke), Jeremy Price (Ragan), Madison Taylor (Oscar) and Katlyn Taylor (Justin); several great-grandchildren; one sister, Patsy Satterfield of Great Falls, SC; two special nephews, Donald Hinson and Matthew Taylor and numerous other nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 61 years, Charlotte Doster Taylor; one great granddaughter, Addalyn Grace Collins; three brothers, Bud, Steve and Jack Taylor and one sister, Mattie Mae Wright.
