Blackstock Donald William Morgan, MD, DMSc, 82, died Friday, August 5, 2016, at Palmetto Health Richland.A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon on Monday, August 8, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Agustin Guzman officiating.Interment will be private.The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 7, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Dr. Morgan was born April 11, 1934 in West Seneca, New York and was a son of the late Marvin Allen Morgan and Mildred May Piper Morgan.He was a graduate of West Seneca High School, NY, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Buffalo School of Medicine and Downstate Medical Center State University of NY where he received his Doctorate of Medical Science.Dr. Morgan was retired Army Colonel Chief of Psychiatry at Walter Reed Medical Center, was American Board Certifiedin Forensic Psychiatry and was later retired as Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry from the University of South Carolina. He enjoyed his farm in South Carolina and his mountain property in West Virginia.Dr. Morgan was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Great Falls, SC. He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Joan A. Morgan; two sons, Donald W. Morgan, II (Cynthia) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Marvin Allen Morgan, III (Susan) of Blackstock; two daughters, Heather Morgan Bennett (Marty) of New Market, Maryland and Nalani Chamberlain (Timothy) of Blackstock; eight grandchildren,Kristi, Marvin IV, Hannah, Benjamin, Rachel, Timothy II, Robert and Steven; two great grandchildren, Vivian and Charlotte; and one brother, James Morgan of Portsmouth, Rhode Island.Dr. Morgan was preceded in death by a brother, John Morgan and a sister, Sylvia King.
