Fort Lawn Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Gilmer Black, 87, died Friday, February 23, 2018, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 26, 2018, at Fort Lawn Church of God with Rev. Jerry Barrineau, Jr. and Rev. James Chappell officiating.Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Monday at Fort Lawn Church of God. Mrs. Black was born September 15, 1930 in Chester, SC and was a daughter of the late Frank Gilmer and Eva Estes Gilmer.She attended the schools of Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries.She and her husband also owned and operated D&R Ceramics.Mrs. Black was a member of Fort Lawn Church of God since 1976 and was a Sunday School teacher for 30 years. She is survived by her husband, Charles R. Black; one son, Randy Black of Fort Lawn; two daughters, Terry Harich and Glenda Black both of Fort Lawn; four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, James “Jay” Gilmer (Myrtle) of Clover and Ronald “Ron” Gilmer (Joanne) of North Augusta; and a special friend, Patsy Mosley of Fort Lawn.Mrs. Black was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lisa Lee and a great grandson, Cory Lee.
