Mrs. Dorothy Jean Baker Smith, 94, died Sunday, July 24, 2022 at White Oak Manor in Lancaster, SC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Chase Catledge officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.

Mrs. Smith was born August 10, 1927 in Winnsboro, SC and was a daughter of the late George Palmer Baker and Lillian Branham Baker. She attended the schools of Great Falls and was a homemaker. She was a member Great Falls Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the circle club and later became a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Greenville SC. Dot was an avid bowler and enjoyed this sport at least three days a week until around 2016.  In her earlier years she enjoyed playing golf.

She is survived by two sons Teddy Smith (Janice) of Great Falls, SC and George Smith (Dawn) of Charlotte, NC; two grandsons, Melvin “Beau” Smith, III and William Smith both of Great Falls, SC; three great grandchildren, Emily Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Melvin “Vin” Smith IV;   one sister, Helen Roberts of Lancaster, SC; numerous nieces and nephews. she was preceded in death by her brothers, Marion, Oscar, Henry, and Rudolph Baker.
