Genevieve Sims Steele

Lancaster, SC: Genevieve Sims "Jenny" Steele, 80, died Wednesday November 27, 2024 at MUSC Lancaster. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2024 at New Covenant Church, Catawba, SC with Reverend Carlisle Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Born in Andrews, NC on May 8, 1944, Jenny was the daughter of the late John Sims and Marie Conley Sims. She was a graduate of North Mecklenburg High School and attended York Technical College. She was retired as Supervisor and group leader of Eckerd's Distribution Center in Charlotte, NC. Earlier in her career, Jenny was Cafeteria Manager for Great Falls Schools. She was a member of New Covenant Church, Catawba, SC. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest and Joe Sims and two sisters, Peggy Sims Stamey and Barbara Sims Hartness. Survivors include her husband of over sixty-three years, Allen Steele; three children, Mike Steele (Christy) of Weddington, NC, Gina S. Helms (Britt) of Fort Mill, SC and Jeff Steele (Janina) of Ooltewah, TN; six grandchildren, Ashley Steele, Katie Steele, Zach Steele (Mia), B.J. Helms, Paul Steele and Thomas Steele and numerous, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to New Covenant Church, c/o Dan Alt, Treasurer, 1931 Mtn. Gap Rd., Richburg, SC 29729.
