Gertrude Baker West

Great Falls, SC Ms. Gertrude Baker West, 88, died at her home Saturday, April 14, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, April 16, 2018 at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Bob Tillotson officiating.The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM Monday, April 16, 2018 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home. Born December 7, 1929 in Kershaw County, SC, Ms. West was a daughter of the late William Clyde Baker and Lottie Bell Baker. She attended the schools of Kershaw County, SC and was a retired from J.P. Stevens and Cinderella Knitting Mill. She was a Member of First Baptist Church of Great Falls. Ms. West was an avid reader and loved gardening and planting flowers. She was also a care giver to many of her friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Powers, Jr., a grandson, Ricky Grainger and a sister Evelyn Medlin. She is survived by three children, Billy Powers, Carol McManus (Stanley) and kay Granger (Gary) all of Great Falls, SC; daughter-in-law, Diane Powers of Great Falls, SC; six grandchildren, Tommy Powers, III, Amy Baker, Stacy Martin, Jason Granger, Mandy Gibson and Dana Jackson; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil “ Pete” Baker and Bert Baker (Shirly) both of Great Falls, SC; one sister, Mildred Garris and numerous nieces and nephews.
