Grady Cole Pittman

Mr. Grady Cole Pittman, 87, died Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Lake Wateree Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Winstead officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Lake Wateree Baptist Church. Mr. Pittman was born May 29, 1936 in Great Falls, SC and was a son of the late Willis O. Pittman and Louise Westbrook Pittman. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School where he played and enjoyed all sports and was a graduate of University of South Carolina. He retired in 1999 from OSHA as a supervisor in the Department of Labor. He was a veteran of the US Navy. As a pilot, aviation was Grady’s vocation and first love. He flew crippled and burned children to the hospital for the Shriners in Cincinnati, OH. He was an avid Gamecock fan and belonged to the Gamecock Club for over 40 years. He was a member of Lake Wateree Baptist Church where he was involved in many church activities and served on numerous committees. He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Phyllis Boswell Pittman; one daughter Alison Hanna (Sam) of Pelion, SC; three grandchildren, Kelley McMahon of Columbia , SC , Lindsey McMahon of Prosperity, SC and Bryson Hanna of Pelion, SC; one brother, Willis Pittman (Louise) of Lancaster, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Gardner and Florine Brown; brothers, Cordell and James Pittman.
