Great Falls Mr. Raymond Heilman Baker, 87, died Monday, November 18, 2013, at Springs Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 21, at Great Falls Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mary Anne Welch and Rev. Jennifer Fouse Sheorn officiating.Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester. The family will receive friends from 2:00 Pm to 3:00 PM on Thursday at Great Falls Presbyterian Church in the fellowship hall. Mr. Baker was born July 9, 1926 in Great Falls and was a son of the late William Guy Baker, Sr. and Francis Williams Baker.He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and attended Queen’s Business College in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Baker was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army and Air Force.He was maintenance supervisor for Richland County School District 1 prior to retirement.Mr. Baker was a former member of Great Falls town council and a member of Great Falls Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and elder.Heilman Baker was a dedicated hometown improvements specialist and was instrumental in planting the trees along Dearborn Street. He kept flowers in the islands on Hwy. 21 and Dearborn St. and worked tirelessly each day to keep Great Falls clean and beautiful. He is survived by one brother, Tommy Eugene Baker, Sr. and wife Peggy; a special nephew, Tommy Baker and wife Amy; a special niece, Tammy Starnes all of Great Falls; and other nephews and nieces, Arden Tom, Clayton, Gail, Linda, and Carol Ann.
