Blackstock, SC Mrs. Irene Hartley McCowan, 83, died Thursday, January 19, 2017, at her home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 23, 2017, at Mitford Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Marty Roberts and Rev. James Freeman officiating.Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday at Mitford Baptist Church. Mrs. McCowan was born April 25, 1933 in Lancaster County, SC and was a daughter of the late Rubin Hartley and Eva Henson Hartley.She attended the schools of Gaston County, NC and retired as a cloth grader from J.P. Stevens Co.Mrs. McCowan was a member of Great Falls Church of God and attended Mitford Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Jeannie McCowan and Mary Ann Eudy both of Blackstock; one granddaughter, Meagan Eudy of Blackstock; one brother, Gary Hartley (Sandra) of Garden City; one nephew, Barry Hartley of Great Falls; one niece, Candice Hairston of Columbia; and one brother-in-law, Jerry McCowan of Blackstock.Mrs. McCowan was preceded in death by her husband, Ray L. “Coon” McCowan.
