Great Falls Mr. James Franklin “Wild Bill” Garris, 85, died Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland.A visitation for friends and family will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC.Other services and interment will be private. Mr. Garris was born November 21, 1931 in Heath Springs, SC and was a son of the late Hazel T. Garris and Connie Pittman Garris.He attended the schools of Blackstock and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served during the Korean War.Mr. Garris retired from the S.C. Forestry Commission and formerly worked for Duke Energy-Crescent Resources.He was also former owner and operator of The Big Rock Service Station and was a member of Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277. He is survived by one son, Jonathan “Bubba” Garris (Jenny) of Chapin; two daughters, Zan Raymond (George) of Inman and Shana Garris of Heath Springs; six grandchildren, Andrew Garris, Ashley Garris, Joel Garris, Candace Garris, Kendall Simpson and Chandler Simpson; and one sister, Shirley Barrett of Clemmons, NC.
