James "Jimmy" Allen Williams

Great Falls James “Jimmy” Allen Williams, 74, went home Friday morning, April 14, 2023, after suffering with declining health. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, April 21, 2023, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. In keeping with his wishes, there will not be a funeral service and his cremated remains will be joined with Laura Ashley and set free at their favorite fishing spot in the Gulf of Mexico. Born March 5, 1949 in Columbia, SC, he was the only child of the late Allen Erwin Williams and Elizabeth Stone Williams. Jimmy grew up in Great Falls and was a graduate of Great Falls High School Class of 1968. He joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served aboard submarines. After leaving the Navy, he lived in Beaufort, SC where he attended the University of SC-Beaufort Regional Campus earning an Associate of Science Degree. It was there he met his future wife, Susan K. Hepfner. They moved to New Orleans where he worked as a professional deep sea diver then became a Lab Coordinator for the Chemical Engineering Department of Tulane University. While working at Tulane, he attended classes and received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Cum Laude, in 1995. He was nominated and became a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. While living in New Orleans, Jimmy served as a Deacon at the House of Prayer Lutheran Church. Jimmy accepted a position with Nortel Networks in Research Triangle Park in Chapel Hill, NC. They later moved to Great Falls for Jimmy to attend to his father. He was employed with Computer Science Corporation and after retirement from CSC, he began a renovation of the family home. After returning to Great Falls, Jimmy was elected to the Town Council and was a member of the Great Falls Lions Club. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Susan; and cousins, Tom Stone of Lexington, NC, Patrick Stone of Raleigh, NC, Stephanie Stone of Monroe, NC and Jane Hite of Greer, SC. He was blessed with many dear friends and good company. In addition to his parents, A.E. and Lib Williams, he was preceded in death by their daughter, Laura Ashley; his grandmother, Mae Stone; his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Virginia Hepfner; his cousin, Mary Larke O’Steen; and an aunt and uncle, Ralph and Arie Morgan.
