James Harvey Osborne

Great Falls Mr. James Harvey Osborne, 82, died Friday, March 25, 2016, at his home.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 28, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Great Falls with Rev. Brian Hovis, Rev. Steve Roberts and Dr. Ricky Cope officiating.Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Great Falls. Mr. Osborne was born October 2, 1933 in Great Falls and was a son of the late Hiram Jones Osborne and Lila Kimbrell Osborne.He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and retired from J.P. Stevens as a planning department supervisor.James Harvey was also employed with Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home since 1992.He served as chairman for Greenlawn Cemetery Committee, past president of Republic Federal Credit Union, a member of the Great Falls Town Council for two terms, a member of Great Falls Rescue Squad and volunteer for Mitford Fire Department.Mr. Osborne was a member of First Baptist Church of Great Falls where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher and on various committees of the church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Moss Osborne, two sons, Stanley Eugene Osborne and wife Beverly of Rock Hill and Stephen Douglas Osborne and wife Kathy of Catawba; one daughter, Phoebe O. Pettit and husband Ronnie of Fort Lawn; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven sisters and two brothers.
