James O. "Joe" Pope

Catawba Mr. James Odell “Joe” Pope, 56, died Sunday, June 12, 2016, at his home.A memorial service will beheld at 4:00 PM on Friday, June 17, at Great Falls Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ronnie Owens officiating.Interment will be private.The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Friday in the fellowship hall of the church. Mr. Pope was born May 13, 1960 in Lancaster, SC and was a son of James Clarence Pope and Mary Ann Ellis Morgan.He attended the schools of Great Falls and was retired as a self-employed painting contractor.Joe was an avid fisherman and Gamecock fan.He enjoyed spending time withhis family and spoiling his grandchildren. He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly “K.J.” Pope Hensley (Jeff) of Catawba; one son, James Marvin Pope (Michelle) of Nashville, TN; seven grandchildren, Brittany Mackey, Mary-Ashley Mackey, Alexander Mackey, Christopher Pope, Kimber Pope, Kaite-Mae Pope, and Jamie Pope; one sister, Mary Jane Ellis (Junior) of Kershaw; one brother, John Pope of Catawba; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and a multitude of friends.Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Ann Saxon Pope, and a brother, Joseph Lee Pope, Sr. Memorials may be made to Great Falls Church of the Nazarene, 12 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC 29055.
