Great Falls Mr. James Woodrow Taylor, Sr., 76, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at his home.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 26, 2014, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home with Bishop Barry Howell officiating.Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Mr. Taylor was born on March 13, 1938 in Chester County, SCand was a son of the late James Edward Taylor and Maggie Bell Morrison Taylor and the widower of Brenda Faye Shinn Taylor.He attended the schools of Chester County and received his GED while serving in the military with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.He was retired from Defenders in Fort Lawn and also Wise Security.He was earlier employed with Ingalles Shipyard in Biloxi, Mississippi and a shipyard in California.Mr. Taylor attended Lifeway Ministries in Lancaster.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and reading his Bible. He is survived by three sons, James W. Taylor, Jr. (Sandra), Matt Taylor (Lisa) both of Great Falls, and John Taylor of Richburg; one daughter, Gail Hopkins (Kenny) of Great Falls; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, David Taylor (Charlotte) of Blackstock; and two sisters, Mattie Mae Wright and Patsy Satterfield (Lee Joe) both of Great Falls.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Taylor and Samuel “Steve” Taylor and a great-granddaughter Brittany Nicole Jenkins.
