Jesse Joseph Sims

Mr. Jesse Joseph Sims, 73, died Thursday August 13, 2020 at Prism Health Baptist in Columbia, SC.All services are private. Mr. Sims was born December 28, 1946 in Monroe, NC and was a son of the late J.L. Sims and Eva Newsome Sims. He attended Lancaster High School and was retired from textiles and also the circulation department of the Great Falls Reporter. He was a former member of the South Carolina Army National Guard.Jesse was a family man and he enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Sims was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by three children, Tammy Dry (Michael) of Fort Lawn, SC, Terry Sims of Lexington, SC, Toni Dutton (Kevin) of Blackstock, SC; six grandchildren, Phillip Dry (Megan) of Great Falls, SC, Zack Dry (Katie) of Great Falls, SC, Anna Sims of Lexington, SC, J.D. Sims of Lexington, SC, Jessica Dutton and Hunter Dutton of Blackstock, SC. Six great-grandchildren, Arabella, Kannon, Bryson, Hayden, Parker and Tucker; one brother Bill Newsome (Laverne) of Sanger, TX; He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Trotter Sims and a granddaughter Candace Dry.
