Jimmy Neely Baker

Mr. Jimmy Neely Baker, 79, died Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Brad Vassey officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside. Mr. Baker was born August 20, 1944 in Chester County and was a son of the late Clarence Baker and Mary Neely Baker. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and attended college. He was retired from Duracell and was a veteran of the US Army having served during Vietnam. Jimmy was an avid golfer and fisherman and was a true Gamecock fan. He loved his family. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Great Falls, SC. He is survived by his wife of over 45 years, Kathie Ann Wright Baker; four children, Betsy Carter Coan (Fred) of Clover, SC, Suzanne Baker (Tracy) of Heath Springs, SC, Roy S. Carter III of Fort Lawn, SC and Melanie Carter Childers (Michael) of Winnsboro, SC; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Clyde Knight of Goose Creek, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Wonzel Baker and two sisters, Betty Baker Knight and Menthlee McClain.
