Lake Wateree Mr. Jimmy Claxton went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 8, 2020.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Lake Wateree Baptist Church Pavilion with Rev. Mike Pelham officiating.The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday at the church pavilion.A private family interment will follow in the church cemetery.Members of the Dutchman Creek VFD will serve as honorary pall bearers. Jimmy was born June 26, 1933 and was a son of the late Kenneth Claxton and Pauline Derrick Claxton.He retired as a supervisor from the Savannah River Nuclear Plant after 35 years of service.He was a member of Lake Wateree Baptist Church and the Dutchman Creek Volunteer Fire Department.Jimmy loved his Lord, his family, his church and the lake.He loved life and people whole heartedly and left behind a true legacy of love and service.His shop was always open to the community.He enjoyed spending time at the Fire Department and especially helping with the annual BBQ. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Baker Claxton; three stepsons, Buddy Brunson (Louise), Eric Morgan (Christy Hopper) and Rusty Morgan; six grandchildren, Hannah Morgan Temple (Jake), Blythe Morgan, Bryson Morgan, Ben Brunson, Charles Brunson (Jean) and Mary Grey Breckenridge; four great grandchildren; a niece, Andre’ Shepherd (Hayden); a nephew, Richie Evans (Shannon); and great nieces, nephews and cousins.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Smith Claxton and grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. L.J. “Bub” Claxton and Mr. & Mrs. John Derrick. The family requests that dress be business casual due to the temperatures and personal folding chairs may be used so that social distancing can be observed.
