Great Falls Mrs. Joan Ricks Neal, 90, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at The Clinton Presbyterian Community in Clinton, South Carolina.The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Dantzler Baker Funeral Home in Great Falls, South Carolina with Rev. Jim Lowry officiating.Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls, South Carolina. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 3. Mrs. Neal was born on September 4, 1926, in Bradenton, Florida, to the late Henry Cleveland Ricks and Catherine Eliza Martin Ricks.She graduated from York High School.She was employed during World War II at Bell Aircraft in Marietta, Georgia and at Western Union in Charlotte, North Carolina.Upon her marriage to James Neal in 1946, Mrs. Neal moved to Great Falls, South Carolina.She retired from J.P. Stevens & Company. A gifted artist and seamstress, Mrs. Neal shared her creations with family and friends.She was active in the Great Falls Presbyterian Church, in the Women's Circle, as the Church Historian and as an Elder. She is survived by Kathy Neal of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Rhoda Neal Luck of Cary, North Carolina, Bobby Neal and his wife, Lisa, of Moore, South Carolina, and Joey Neal and his wife, Marianne, of Great Falls; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Long, Jack Dantzler, Lydia Luck, and James Luck; three great-grandchildren, Wesley Long, Jad Dantzler, and Jaison Dantzler; and one sister, Sara Ramsey of Sharon, South Carolina. Mrs. Neal was predeceased by her husband, James Neal; their son, James Neal, Jr.; her brothers H. C. Ricks, Jr., Jack Ricks, and Hugh Ricks; and her sister, Jewel Ricks.
