John Macarthur Thompson

Mr. John MacArthur Thompson, 80, died Wednesday, May 31, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Howell officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday at the church. Mr. Thompson was born July 20, 1942 in McAdenville, NC and was a son of the late John Wesley Thompson and Louise Reep Thompson. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and attended York Tech and USC Lancaster. Mr. Thompson was retired from Duke Power and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was member of Masonic Lodge 277 and Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Great Falls. He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Joyce P. Thompson; two daughters, Tina Hall (Harold) of Great Falls, SC and Amy Altman (Jeff) of Mauldin, SC; five grandchildren, John Royce Hall, Nathan Hall, Claire Altman, Sydney Altman and William Altman; one sister, Dorothy Yount of Lake Wateree, SC.
