Juanita Murphy Barker

Rock Hill Mrs. Juanita Murphy Barker, 90, formerly of Great Falls, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Unihealth Care in Rock Hill. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 3, 2010 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls with Rev. Tom Patterson and Christopher Barker officiating.The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service. Born October 16, 1919 in Bulloch County, Georgia, Mrs. Barker was a daughter of the late John Benjamin and Edna Nesmith Murphy and the widow of Shelby Luther Barker.She attended the schools of Statesboro, Ga. and was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. where she worked as a weaver.She was a member of Woodhaven Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC and a former member of First Baptist Church of Great Falls where she taught Sunday School.She was an active member of The Eastern Star. She is survived by one son, Dr. Glenn Barker and his wife Jean of Rock Hill; eight granchildren, Dr. Michael Barker and his wife Jackie, Laura Morton and her husband Charles, Christopher Barker, Nadia Barker, Mike Wicker and his wife Tina, Kevin Wicker and Oxana Moore and her husband Daniel; four great grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, J.B. Murphy and a sister, Bessie Murphy. Memorials may be made to Woodhaven Baptist Church, 2060 Marett Blvd., Rock Hill, SC 29732.
