Kim Duc Le Shetrone

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Kim Shetrone who peacefully died September 27, 2023 at Southminster Hospice House in Charlotte. She was a source of unwavering love, guidance, and strength to her family and friends, and her loss leaves an indescribable void in our lives. Visitation services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023, 3:30 pm at Mitford Baptist Church in Great Falls followed by a Memorial Service at 4:30 pm with Rev. Marty Roberts officiating. Interment will be private. Ms. Shetrone was born on June 1, 1943, in Saigon, Vietnam. In 1972, she moved her family to the United States. The family lived in Maryland and Germany before settling in Great Falls, South Carolina in February 1977. In Great Falls, she felt supported and embraced; she proudly called this town her home. She worked at Cinderella Knitwear. She retired in 2005 to spend more time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Ms. Shetrone enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking Vietnamese dishes and gardening. Her dedication and selflessness were unparalleled, as she nurtured and raised her six children independently with boundless love, wisdom, and patience. She embodied the values of bravery, strength, compassion, integrity, and resilience, instilling these traits in her children who will forever be grateful for the unwavering support she provided. She was one of 11 children, 8 sisters and 2 brothers. She is fondly remembered and dearly missed by her six children; Bobbie Vails of Rock Hill, Betty Edwards of Rock Hill, Susan Ryder of Fort Mill, Terri Long (Patrick) of Charlotte, Jennifer Payne (Todd) of Lake Wateree and Michael Shetrone (Shannon) of Columbia; her ten grandchildren; Eric Vails of San Francisco, Sean Vails of Rock Hill, Kim Ryder of Charlotte, Josh Ryder of Columbia, Freddie Long of Charleston, Carly Long of Charlotte, Michael Shetrone Jr. of Columbia, Jordan Shetrone of Columbia, Travis Payne (Brenna) of Richburg, and Logan Payne who is currently serving his country in the Navy; her sister; Hong Hales of Dallas, TX and a wide circle of family and friends. Her legacy will live on through the cherished memories she leaves behind and the values she imparted upon those she loved. Her children extend their deepest gratitude to all those who have offered their condolences and support during this difficult time.
