Laverne Eugene Watson

Laverne Eugene Watson, 86, died Tuesday November 7, 2023 at Chester MUSC Nursing Center. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Mitford Baptist Church with Pastor Marty Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends also at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery. Mr. Watson was born in Bishopville, SC on March 29, 1937 and was a son of the late John E. Watson and Bertha Stokes Watson. He attended the Cedar Creek School near Bishopville, SC and was a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard for over ten years. Mr. Watson was retired as a Formation Operator with an Electronics Manufacturer and was a member of Mitford Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Collins Varnadore Watson and his two sisters, Linda McCoy and Everleen Medlin. He is survived by three sons, Tommy Varnadore (Diane) of Rock Hill, SC, John Watson of Lugoff, SC and Jamie Watson of Camden, SC; four daughters, Janet Tate of Great Falls, SC, Debbie Robinson (Johnny) of Winnsboro, SC, Anita Watson of Lexington, SC and Kathy Tapia (Lorenzo) of Newberry, SC; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and one sister, Annette Nichols (Carol) of Bishopville, SC .
