Great Falls Mr. Leonard Billy Cooper, 86, died Monday, February 24, 2014, at Springs Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will beheld at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Chase Catledge and Rev. Curtis Cameron officiating.Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Wednesday, February 26, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Mr. Cooper was born June 5, 1927 in Great Falls and was a son of the late Ira B. Cooper and Veary Byars Cooper.He attended the schools of Great Falls and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.Mr. Cooper played baseball with the American Legion team and also with the Great Falls Textile League team.He retired from J.P. Stevens Company and was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Cooper is survived by two daughters, Vivian Linnette Rogers and husband Dan of Lancaster and Debbie Cooper Martin and husband Rusty of Great Falls; three grandchildren, Danette Benton and Kerri Rogers both of Lancaster and Lee Martin of Great Falls; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Jones of Lancaster and Allie Martin of Great Falls.He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie K. Cooper, a grandson, Jared Martin, and a brother, Elbert Cooper. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 606 Dearborn St., Great Falls, SC 29055 or to Greenlawn Cemetery, P.O.
