Mr. Leslie Thomas Black “PawPaw”, 92, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025 surrounded by loved ones and his family after fighting a fierce battle with cancer. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Marty Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Dantzler Baker Funeral Home and other times at his home, 8029 Camp Welfare Road, Great Falls.
Mr. Black was born May 28, 1933 in Great Falls, SC and was the son of the late Thomas William Black and Mamie Drawdy Black. He was a 1952 graduate of Great Falls High School and retired after 23 years of service with the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. Mr. Black was a member of the Great Falls Masonic Lodge, Great Falls Shrine Club, Hill Billy Clan #2 and Mitford Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years, but his favorite activity was camping at Wateree State Park and being with family and friends. He enjoyed people life and love to the fullest.
He leaves behind his baby brother Ralph Black of Great Falls; three children, Mike Black of Lowry’s, SC; two daughters, Leslie Plyler (Joe) of Great Falls, SC and Lynn Dove of Great Falls, SC; also two bonus boys, Wayne Cooper of Wateree and Ray Forester of Lancaster, SC, numerous grandchildren, great grans and great-great Grans, also nieces and nephews that all loved him dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Peggy Mitchell Black and his only sister, Vauncille Drawdy.
His wishes are for memorials to be made to Greenville Shriners Hospital, 950 W. Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605
