Great Falls Mr.L.J. Horton, 82, left this home to go to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville.The funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Weldon Sellers and Rev. Tom Tucker officiating.Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC 29055. Mr. Horton was born July 11, 1930 IN Kershaw County and was a son of the late Lonnie Horton and Frances Taylor Horton. He attended the Kershaw County schools, retired from J.P. Stevens, and later worked for Chester Consolidated Engraving.He was a member of Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277 and was of the Baptist faith.Mr. Horton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Louise Horton; one son, Larry J. Horton, Jr. of Richburg; two daughters, Cindy Sellers and husband Lonnie of Indian Land and Rene’ Scoggins of Great Falls; five grandchildren, Weldon Sellers of Anderson, Larry Neil Horton of Richburg, Melissa Stone of Edgemoor, April Porter of Indian Land, Paige Scoggins of Charleston; nine great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, Alex, Adam, Bentley, Jakson, Makenna, Karlie, and Savanna; two brothers, Wilbur Horton and Ed Horton of Kershaw; one sister, Gaynell Horton of McBee; and his special companions, Penny and Snoop.He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Scoggins; a special son-in-law, Tim Scoggins, and two sisters Vera and Betty.
