GREAT FALLS, SOUTH CAROLINA Mrs. Mabel Jordan Roof, 87, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at White Oak Manor in Lancaster, SC.The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Grover Johnson officiating.The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the church sanctuary. Born June 2, 1923 in Great Falls, SC, Mrs. Roof was the daughter ofL.C. and Margaret Essie Keisler Jordan.She was a graduate of Great Falls High School and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she was formerly the assistant church pianist. She is survived by two daughters, Peggy R. Baker and her husband Tommy of Great Falls and Barbara J. "Bobbie" Wright of Charlotte, NC; one son, Jimmy K. Roof of Fort Mill, SC; four grandchildren, Jeff Wright of Charlotte, NC,and Rick Wright of Greenville, SC, Angie Higgins of Great Falls, SC, Sherry Fowler of Richburg, SC ,eight great grandchildren and very special nieces and nephews.. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob Franklin "Cooter" Roof and a granddaughter, Catherine E. Fowler.
