Great Falls Mrs. Margaret Stuart Atkinson Weir, 96, died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Linda Giltner.A memorial servicewill be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2013, Bonclarken Conference Center Chapel , Flat Rock, NC with Rev. Chuck Evans and Rev. Jack Presseauofficiating and at 2:00 PMon Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Great Falls Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mary Anne Welch and Rev. James Lowery officiating.Committal will follow in HopewellARP Church Cemetery in Blackstock, SC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 6, in the social hall of Great Falls Presbyterian Church, 500 Dearborn St., Great Falls, SC. Mrs. Weir was born May 9, 1916 in Washington, DC and was a daughter of the late Thomas Harris Atkinson and Mattie Williams Atkinson.She graduated high school in Florida and was a 1936 graduate of Erskine College.Mrs. Weir was very active in the Great Falls Garden Club, having been a charter member for more than 50 years, and was a member of the Great Falls Chapter211 of the Eastern Star.She and her husband, Lawrence S. “Eel” Weir,owned and operated Weir Fuel Company (Exxon Distributor).She was a member of Great Falls Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, Circle leader, and a Bible School teacher, and held associate memberships at PinecrestARP Church in Flat Rock, NC and Hopewell ARP Church in Blackstock.Mrs. Weir loved telling stories, her crafts, and gardening. She is survived by four children, Margaret W. Revels of Great Falls, L. Sam Weir and wife Fran of Shelby, NC, Linda W. Giltner and husband Joe of Chesnee, SC, and Martha W. Stevenson and husband Mike of Great Falls; one sister, Mrs. Jeanette Jordan of Clinton, SC; two sisters-in-law Mrs. Annie Mae Ford of New Ellengton, SC and Mrs. Alice Atkinson of Naples, Florida; twelve grandchildren; a host of great and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Great Falls Presbyterian Church, P.O.
