Blackstock Mrs. Mary Kathryn Scott Sanders, 81, died Saturday, November 30, 2019, at her home.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Catoe and Rev. Jerry Phillips officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.The family will received friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 3, in the social hall of the church. Mrs. Sanders was born January 6, 1938 in Great Falls, SC and was a daughter of the late Walter Scott, Jr. and Lillie Walsh Scott.She was a graduate of Great Falls High school and earned her Master’s Degree from Winthrop College.She was retired as an elementary school teacher after more than 30 years.Mrs. Sanders was the first recipient of the Elementary Education Reading Degree from Winthrop College.She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a choir member. She is survived by her husband, J. Michael Sanders; one son, Michael Wayne Sanders (Melanie) of Blackstock; one daughter, Sherry Alexander (Carlos) of Lake Wateree; three grandsons, Devin Sanders, Shane Clack and Mike Sanders; six great grandchildren; one sister, Anne Scott of Clinton, SC; and one brother, Charlie Scott of Knoxville, TN.
