Mildred Louise O'Shields

Lake Wateree Mrs. Mildred Louise Cheek O’Shields, 87, died Monday, October 26, 2015, at her home.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Lake Wateree Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Pelham officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday at Lake Wateree Baptist Church, 5856 River Rd., Ridgeway, SC. Mrs. O’Shields was born June 18, 1928 in Ashe County, NC and was a daughter of the late Levi Cheek and Helen Shirley Cheek.She was a graduate of the schools of Ashe County, NC and retired from J.B. Whites as a sales clerk.Mrs. O’Shields enjoyed fishing which earned her the nickname “Catfish Lou” and she was a proud member of the River Rats group.Mrs. O’Shields loved her Lord and her family.She attended Lake Wateree Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Larry Shook of Granite Falls, NC, David Shook (Linda) of Hickory, NC and Gene Shook (Monika) of Lenoir, NC; two daughters, Brenda Bowman of Mountain View, NC and Peggy Hall of Lenoir, NC; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Grace Gentry of Lenoir, NC; and two brothers, Edwin Cheek of Amarillo, Tx. and Shirrill Cheek of West Jefferson, NC.
