Fort Lawn Mr.M.W. “Red” Leonhardt, 90, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, as a result of an automobile accident.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Fort Lawn Baptist Church with Rev. TedHodges officiating.Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday at Fort Lawn Baptist Church. Mr. Leonhardt was born November 4, 1921 in Lincoln County, NC and was a son of the late Dorus T. Leonhardt and Nancy Huffsteller Leonhardt.He was a graduate of the schools of Lincoln County, NC,served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and retired as a merchant marine after more than 30 years of service.He was an accomplished yoedler, musician, and composer known as “Red Hart”.Mr. Leonhardt was a member of Fort Lawn Baptist Church. He is survived by one stepson, Bill Denton of Lexington, SC; one stepdaughter, Carol Byrd and husband Tom of Chester; twelve step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Frank and Barbara Gaston of Fort Lawn.
