Oscar Junior Hicks

Great Falls Mr. Oscar Junior Hicks, 96, died Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC with Rev. Kevin Taylor and Rev. Roger Shuford officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM Saturday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home. Mr. Hicks was born October 6, 1926 in Great Falls, SC and was a son of the late Luther Oscar Hicks and Lottie Price Hicks. He attended the schools of Great Falls and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII. He was retired from J.P. Stevens. Mr. Hicks was a member of First Baptist Church, Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277 and Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was known for his love of cooking. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Agnes McWaters Hicks; one son, Danny Hicks (Kathy) of Davenport, FL; two daughters, Delores Pittman (Ricky) of Lancaster, SC and Kimberly Surrett (Wayne) of Elgin, SC; stepsons, Tony McWaters (Denise) of Fayetteville, GA, Dwayne Powers (Debbie) of Chester, SC and Sam Powers of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Derek Hicks, Brett Hicks, Rusty Pittman, Sandy Humphries, Wesley Pittman, Chris Rogers, Michael Rogers, Phillip Surrett, Hollie Harbin, David McWaters, Ross McWaters, John McWaters, Matthew McWaters and Laura Pressley; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and three special nephews who were loved as sons, Larry, Charles and Dell Harper. Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Harper and Gertie Keziah; and a brother, Bill Joe Hicks. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W.
