Rachel Dean Whitley

Rachel Dean Whitley, 79, died Saturday, November 16, 2024 at MUSC Health Columbia Downtown. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2024 at Lancaster Memorial Park with Robert Rainey, Jr. officiating. Mrs. Whitley was born May 19, 1945 in Monroe, NC and was the daughter of the late KT Franklin Whitley and Victoria Deese Whitley. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster, SC. Rachel was disabled all her life so she enjoyed small things in life. She loved Elvis and she loved watching television and her favorite was Marshall Dillion and Gunsmoke. Rachel also loved Christmas and was very excited about opening presents. She is survived by one sister, Lucy W. Rainey of Kershaw, SC; one brother, Larry Wayne Whitley (Debra) of Kershaw, SC; nephews, Tony and Eddie Peterson and Robert Rainey (Brigit); nieces, Kristy Rainey (Raleigh) and Denise Shelton; and great nephews, Paul Leonhardt (Hope) and James Shelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Franklin Whitley. Memorials may be made to Flat Creek Fire Department, 7653 Flat Creek Rd, Kershaw, SC 29706.
