Great Falls Mr. Ray “Coon” Lewis McCowan, 76, passed away Monday, August 8, 2011 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, SC.The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Mitford Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Cameron officiating.Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 3:00 PM on Wednesday at Mitford Baptist Church. Mr. McCowan was born June 27, 1935 in Chester County, SC and was a son of the late Hazel McCowan and Leona Lineberger McCowan.He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and retired from Duke Energy.Mr. McCowan was a member of Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277 and had been a Master Mason for more than 50 years.He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and also attended Mitford Baptist Church.After his retirement, Mr. McCowan enjoyed working with his cows. He is survived by his wife, Irene Hartley McCowan; two daughters, Jeannie McCowan and Mary Ann Eudy and husband Joey; one granddaughter, Meagan Eudy; and one brother, Jerry McCowan all of Great Falls.
