Great Falls Mr. Frank Raymond Gladden, Sr., 83, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at his home. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Great Falls Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mary Anne Welch and Dr. David Riddleofficiating.Interment will follow in Hebron Presbyterian Church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:30 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Mr. Gladden was born in Chester Co. on December 24, 1927 and was a son of the late Frank Hall Gladden and Mary Thomasson Gladden.He graduated from Great Falls High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired after 45 years with Duke Power where he was a mechanical superintendent in hydro maintenance.Mr. Gladden was a member of Great Falls Presbyterian Church.He was an avid woodworker and an authority on marquetry having been a long-time member and past president of the Carolinas Chapter of the American Marquetarians.Raymond's loved ones will remember him above all as a man devoted to his family who delighted in making others laugh. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hilda Price Gladden; one son, Raymond "Ray" Gladden, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Mebane, NC; one daughter, Catherine Gladden Vaughn and her partner Kathryn Fessler of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Hannah Margaret Vaughn, Morgan Andrew Gladden, Rachel Catherine Vaughn and Stuart Daniel Gladden; two nieces, Beth Gladden Rice and her husband Steve and Leigh Gladden Lalos and her husband Peter; one nephew, F. Hall Gladden and his wife Nola Armstrong.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nina Ann Gladden, a brother, Everett Hall Gladden and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Faulkenberry.
