Great Falls Mr. Rembert Anderson Ellisor, Sr., 96, died Monday, November 18, 2013, at Chester Regional Nursing Center.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, at First Baptist Church of Great Falls with Rev. Clay Waldrip and Rev. Aubrey Floyd officiating.Interment will follow at Cedar Shoals Presbyterian Church cemetery.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls, SC. Mr. Ellisor was born in Kershaw County, SC on October 29, 1917 and was a son of the late W.B. Ellisor and Lula Jacobs Ellisor.He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.This past Veteran’s Day Congressman Mick Mulvaney presented Mr. Ellisor with the U.S. Flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in Mr. Ellisor’s honor and in recognition for being the oldest living WWII veterain Chester County.Mr. Ellisor was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, former treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and an active member of the Brotherhood.He was instrumental in the land acquisition and construction of the building of Trinity Baptist Church when it began as a mission ministry of First Baptist Church of Great Falls.He retiredfrom J.P. Stevens after more than 49 years of service.Mr. Ellisor wasa member of the Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277 for more than 50 years, a lifelong member of the Hejaz Shrine Club, and a member of the Great Falls Lion’s Club for more than 50 years.He was a former commissioner for the Chester Metropolitan District , member and chairman of the Great Falls School Board during which time the current Great Falls High School was constructed, and past board member of the Chester County Chapter of the American Red Cross.Many will remember Rem as a pitcher for the Great Falls textile league baseball team prior to and after World War II.He enjoyed supporting all sports, but had a passion for the Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tigers. Mr. Ellisor is survived by his wife of more than 63 years, Bobbie Ann Medlin Ellisor; one son, Rembert A. “Andy” Ellisor, Jr. and wife Terry of Chester; grandsons, Joshua A. Ellisor and Caleb R. Ellisor both of Chester; one brother, Lowell Ellisor of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Plumie E. Roddey of Great Falls and Clennie E. Curtis of Lugoff.He was preceded in death by six sisters, Kathleen Rabon, Zadie Neely, Emily Rushing, Burley Roddey, Gladys Mitkus, and Gertie Smith; and one brother, Lenzie Ellisor.
