Rev. Floyd Marion Dry, 89, died Saturday, February 3, 2024, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Chase Catledge, Rev. Roland L. Dry and Rev. Gregory Dry officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church. Rev. Dry was born September 15, 1934 in Lando, SC and was a son of the late Floyd Lee Dry and Lottie Catoe Dry Self and stepfather, L.V. Self. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and retired from Duke Power Company in December 1991 with 23 years of service as a mechanic in Hydro Maintenance in Great Falls. He served at Mitford Baptist Church in Great Falls as volunteer Music Director for 18 years and also served as Sunday School Director, Church Training Director, Sunday School teacher, VBS Director and Deacon. He also held morning worship services at Tanglewood Nursing Home in Ridgeway, SC. Rev. Dry was called at the age of 50 to prepare for the ministry. He felt that God wanted to use him for supply and interim work in small churches who found it difficult at times to provide for a full-time pastor. Rev. Dry earned his Associate of Arts Religion degree in 1987 and his Bachelor of Arts Religion degree in 1989, both from Mid-Atlantic Bible College in Rock Hill, SC. Rev. Dry was licensed to the ministry by Mitford Baptist Church in Great Falls in 1989. He was ordained to the ministry by Lando Baptist Church in Lando in 1990. Rev. Dry served Lando Baptist Church in Lando, SC, Bethel Baptist Church in Lancaster, SC, Center Grove Baptist Church in Kershaw, SC, West Chester Baptist Church in Chester, SC, Trinity Baptist Church in Great Falls, SC and many other churches in the area. He was a Mason for more than 50 years and also worked for Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home for many years. In their younger years, Rev. Dry enjoyed taking his family camping. He later enjoyed traveling in their RV with his late wife, Tracy. He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. Rev. Dry is survived by his son, Carlton Laine Dry (Angie) of Lancaster, SC; two daughters, Teresa A. Dry of Blythewood, SC and Gina D. Spencer (Chuck) of Ridgeway, SC; a daughter-in-law, Susan J. Dry of Lancaster, SC; two brothers, Rev. Roland L. Dry (Carol) of Rock Hill, SC and Douglas Self of Rock Hill, SC; three sisters, Barbara Dry Mosier of Raleigh, NC, Elaine Self Howard (Olin) of Andrews, SC and Angela Self Bailey (Mike) of Fort Lawn, SC; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his faithful caregiver during the past 4 ½ years, Gail Wilburn Thomas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Tracy Day Dry; a son, Carey Lawrence Dry; a great grandson, Noland Jase Faile; and two brothers, Grady Franklin Dry and Wilson Leroy Self.
