Ronald Avery Pettit 71, of Fort Lawn SC died peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Monday February 24, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM. Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at White Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 26 2025 at White Springs Baptist Church. Interment will be private.
Mr. Pettit was born on December 5, 1953, in Lancaster County. He was an active member of White Springs Baptist Church having served as a deacon and choir member.
He attended Great Falls and Lancaster schools and graduated from Lancaster High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years. He served aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68) the lead ship of the U.S. Navy's Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. After his time in the Navy, he worked for Springs Industries and retired from Comporium Communications.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phoebe Osborne Pettit; two daughters, Tanya Pettit and Dawn Pettit; four grandchildren, Sydney Ferrell, Marley Ferrell, Kinsley Cook, and Kaden Payne; one great grandchild Heaven Cook; one sister, Sharon Knight and one brother Darryl Pettit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Avery Pettit and Mary Elizabeth Pettit.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to White Springs Baptist Church.
