Russell Armon Bowles

BLACKSTOCK, SC Mr. Russell Armon Bowles, 87, died Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Uni Health in Ridgeway, SC. A graveside service will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Hebron Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Williams and Dr. David Riddle officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM in the church social hall. Born December 7, 1922 in Pearisburg, VA, Mr. Bowles was a son of the late John M. and Eva Ellen Meredith Bowles. He was a graduate of Pembroke High School in Pembroke, VA and retired from Duke Power Hydro Maintenance Department where he was a supervisor. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp during World War II. Surviving are his wife Mildred Kessler Bowles; one son, Thomas M. Bowles and wife Blanche of Blackstock; two daughters, Marcia Jane Burckhalter and husband James of Barnwell, SC, and Virginia Ann Wolcott and husband Mark of Myersville, Maryland; four brothers, John Bowles of Cayce, SC, Bob Bowles of Pembroke, VA, Wayne Bowles of Orient, Ohio, and Terry Bowles of Floyd, VA; seven sisters, Ellen Snidow, Nancy Falls, Jean Caldwell, and Margaret Higginbotham all of Pembroke, VA, Janet Robertson of Narrows, VA, Josephine Beswick of West Point, VA, Phyllis Niday of Rock Hill, SC and seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
